Tourist visa is not required for nationals of the Nordic and Baltic countries. Stateless persons and persons with Travel Documents (not a National Passport) always need visas. For other nationalities please contact us. The maximum stay for a tourist is generally 90 days, but there are exceptions, depending on the nationality.
These are the general requirements for the application of a Tourist Visa to Chile:
- A valid passport.
- A valid Residence permit in Sweden is generally required. In some cases we can make exceptions and apply for visa for a non-resident when there is a justified cause. We also apply for visas for persons living in Latvia (Tourist visa is not required for Latvians).
- 3 photos (looking straight into the camera).
- The necessary application forms. If there is a contact person in Chile we need the name, address, phonenumber and your relation to this person.
There are two kinds of Tourist visa, Single entry and Multiple entry Tourist visa. You must state what kind of visa you need. The Multiple entry Tourist Visa is generally more expensive.
- Certificate of employment or financial situation.
- "Personbevis för ambassadärende" from Skatteverket for residents of Sweden. If you are married to someone from Chile or have children with someone from Chile, this should be included.
If you are married to someone from Chile or have children with someone from Chile and you are not a resident of Sweden you should present a marriage certificate or a birth certificate. If you are married to a Chilean citizen the marriage should always be registered in Chile.
- An invitation when such is the case. In case of a business invitation the number of days and purpose of the trip should be stated. If there is a contact person in Chile we need the name, address, phonenumber, and profession.
- Visa cost, depending on the nationality. In some cases we charge an extra SEK 100 for fax costs when we require an authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chile. This depends on the nationality. For those that need this authorization from Chile, we recommend that the application should be made at least 3 weeks in advance.
- A two-way ticket.
IMPORTANT: The application process to a Visa starts when the applicant has presented all requested documents and, it also may be necessary to attend to a personal interview. The resolution could take up to 30 days, specially on regard those applications that are sent to Santiago, Chile, for its final resolution. Therefore, it is highly recomendable to all visa applicants to present their requests with enough time in advance to meet the forseen travel date.
